SJB Colombo District candidate and former MP Hirunika Premachandra yesterday said she is happy about the stand of former Parliament colleague Namal Rajapaksa with regard to the Mount Lavinia beach project.

Ms. Premachandra told a news conference that it was happy to note Mr Rajapaksa taking a correct stand on it.
Mr. Rajapaksa referred to the washing away of sand at the Mount Lavinia beach as a financial crime and called for an investigation on it.

“ We are happy to note Mr. Rajapaksa acting as an opposition MP but we hope he is genuine about it,” Ms. Premachandra said.

“ He should have met President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and requested him for an investigation on the matter,” she added.
“ I am looking forward for his response on the comment I made,” she also said.
