Giving military training for youth over 18 years of age is not financially realistic, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka told Parliament yesterday.

Field Marshal Fonseka who is a former Army Commander said a sum of Rs. 750,000 will have to be spent for a single youth for six months. Accordingly a total sum of Rs 75 billion is needed to provide military training to 100,000 youth within the stipulated age for a period of six months.

“The proposal made by the Minister of National Security is not financially realistic,” he said.
