Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said the President and the Prime Minister should take action against the ministers who insult religious leaders.

Mr. Rajapaksa said the ministers who insult religious leaders should apologies to the people.

He expressed these views at an event held at the the Nadeniya Sri Pala Bodhiraja Viveka Senasana Vihara at Bope, Galle to present ‘the Aktha Pathra’ to Ven. Kalubovitiyana Wimalarathana Thera.

“The Buddha Sasana has been preserved because of the commitment and the contribution of the Maha Sangha. The government not only put monks behind bars, it also insults them today. No other faction than Maha Sangha has been suppressed by this government. The rulers insult leaders of other religions as well without stopping at insulting Buddhist monks. All these insults are being made to provoke the people,” he said.

MPs Ramesh Pathirana, Mohan De Silva and Nishantha Muthuhettigama and Governor Keerthi Tennakoon were also present at the event.
