I will take action to put an end to underworld activities and the drug menace which had intensified during the tenure of the previous government, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Leader, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday.

He told a SLPP rally held in Horana that the people in this country and especially the young generation face grave difficulties because of underworld activities and drugs that a spreading across the country.  “Drug smuggling has increased to such an extent that the institutions set up to curb the drug menace and seize drugs have been infiltrated by drug smugglers. Drug smuggling and underworld activities being operated from within the prisons is a serious problem we face and the President has taken action to prevent this,” the Prime Minister said.
