Govt. unable to trace how second wave began: Ruwan

• Minister of Health should state as to how the second wave had begun in Sri Lanka

It is unfortunate that the authorities have been unable to trace as to how the second wave of COVID-19 had begun, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene said over the weekend. 

Speaking after a religious ceremony held at the Gangarama Temple to seek divine help to end the COVID-19 during the weekend, Mr. Wijewardene said the Minister of Health should state as to how the second wave had begun in Sri Lanka.   

‘It is unfortunate that the government has not been able to determine as to how the second wave of COVID-19 had begun in Sri Lanka. It is important that the Health Minister comes out with all details,” he said.   

“ It is also important to carry out an effective programme to help those who depend on daily revenue in areas curfew enforced areas. Focus should be made on people in Gampaha,” he said.   

Venerable Kirinde Assaji Thera of the Gangarama Temple said religious observances are an effective step towards overcoming pandemic situations. Venerable Thera recalled that Buddha was able to solve issues in the city of Visala by reciting the Rathana Sutra.
