Falling from precipices in Ella and Kandapola Four killed, 5 injured in separate three-wheeler accidents

Four people belonging to two families were killed and five others injured when two three-wheelers fell from precipices in two separate accidents in Ella and Kandapola on Saturday. 

 In one accident in Ella, the police said a 35-year-old man and his eight-year-old son died and another two were injured when their three-wheeler skidded off the road and fell into a precipice at Gabaragala in Ella Saturday night.   


 Police said the three-wheeler fell into a 350-metre deep precipice. 

 
The injured were rushed to the Badulla Hospital and the father and the son succumbed to their injuries. His other two sons injured in the incident, were undergoing treatment at the hospital. Meanwhile, in another accident, a 43-year-old man and his wife were killed and the couple’s three children were injured when their three-wheeler veered off the road and fell into a 25 feet precipice at Papilla in Kandapola on Saturday morning. 

 
Police said the three-wheeler met with the accident on the Nuwara Eliya-Udupussellawa Road.   


The injured were admitted to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital where the three-wheeler driver and his wife succumbed to their wounds.   


The 15 year and 19 year old sons and their six-year-old daughter were injured in the accident.   


They were residents of Godigama.
