Drug-trafficking politicos Madush killed to stop the names being revealed: NPP

Notorious underworld figure Makandure Madush was killed to prevent the names of politicians involved in the drug trafficking being disclosed in Court, National People’s Power (NPP) MP Vijitha Herath said yesterday.  

He told Parliament that if the case against Madush was taken up in Court, there was a good chance of his revealing the names of politicians involved in drug trafficking and his killing was to prevent him from doing so.   
“This is not the first killing of this nature. There have been several other similar killings. The issue is not Madush’s killing but the manner he was killed. Joining a programme on a private radio channel over the phone on January 28 he said there were several politicians involved in drug trafficking,” the MP said.  

He said according to a senior police officer when Madush was being interrogated he had revealed that some 80 politicians were involved in drug trafficking.
