Doctor fires shots at youth who enters his garden to collect a ball

A 17-year-old youth was injured after he was shot at by a doctor with an air-rifle in Arawwala, Pannipitiya on Sunday afternoon, Police said.  They said the boy who had been playing cricket at the ground of the Arawwala School had reportedly entered the suspect’s garden to collect the ball, when he was shot at following an argument.  


The boy was admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital.  


The suspect, who is a doctor attached to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital, was remanded till December 2 after being produced in the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
