The curfew currently in force in the country except in the Western Province and the Districts of Puttalam, Kandy and Jaffna will be lifted at 6.00 am today (April 1) and re-imposed at 2.00 pm on the same day, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

It said the curfew imposed in the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Kandy and Jaffna Districts would continue until further notice.

The PMD said travelling to and from one district to another has been completely prohibited except for purposes of providing essential services and that those who violated these regulations would be severely dealt with according to the law.

Since the sole purpose of these measures is to ensure the well-being of the people in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the government requests the public to strictly follow the laid-down guidelines in a responsible manner.
