‘Beba’ arrested

Krishan Nilanga Dabare alias ‘ Beba’, a close associate of underworld criminals ‘Angoda Lokka’ and ‘Athurugiriya Ladiya’ were arrested by the STF on Monday night.  

•  Investigations revealed that the suspect was on bail in connection with  the killing of Nimalsiri Perera alias ‘Podi Sudu’ in Athurugiriya in  2018 and the shooting at former state minister Sujeewa Senasinghe’s  secretary’s residence at Athurugiriya  

They said the 26-year-old suspect had in his possession 3.1 grams of heroin  at the time of his arrest, which was made on the receipt of a tip-off.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was on bail in connection with the killing of Nimalsiri Perera alias ‘Podi Sudu’ in Athurugiriya in 2018 and the shooting at former state minister Sujeewa Senasinghe’s secretary’s residence at Athurugiriya.  

The STF said the suspect was also in custody in connection with a shooting at Thalangama in February 2018 where a man was killed and woman injured.   

When being questioned it was revealed that the suspect had close contacts with Angoda Lokka and Athurugiriya Ladiya who were drug peddlers and part of an overseas criminal group.  

Gangster ‘Beba’ was known to be operating a manpower agency and had threatened several people, forcibly engaging them at housing and hotel construction sites in Athurugiriya.   

The suspect was handed over to the Athurugiriya Police for further investigations.  
STF personnel led by Chief Inspector Nadeeka Silva conducted the raid on the instructions of the STF Commandant.
