There is a Ministry responsible for looking into the wellbeing of the working class in the country.
This Ministry recently made a bold announcement that it was prepared to help anyone who had lost their job as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Ministry had even mentioned a telephone number in its advertisement to enable that affected jobwise to inform them of the necessary details.
So, those who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic had tried to reach the Ministry authorities over the phone calling the telephone number mentioned but had found the number unresponsive. They had received only a recorded message that said: “There is no answer from the number.”
So, the irate people had later mobbed the Ministry office at Narahenpita. However none from the Ministry had come forward to listen to their grievance, they say.
The people had tried later to contact a certain vociferous secretary at the Ministry, but the stock reply they had got was: “He has not come to work.”
