The social media ban is said to have led to a new rapport between some senior government politicos and young opposition members, they say.
Some government seniors had been dismayed when the social media shutdown came, for that deprived them of the convenient means of getting in touch with their dear ones.
Meanwhile, they had learnt that the young opposition members continued the dialogue with their social media friends by accessing the sites through proxies like the VPN.
So, an elderly government senior had the other day approached a young opposition Diyawanna member from the South and had beseeched him: “Ane Malli, tell me how to access this thing!”
Life for this elderly politico would be dreary without the sites like the WhatsApp and the Facebook, they say.
