Holcim (Lanka) excels at SLIM Brand Excellence 2014

Outperforming several high profile brands hailing from several different sectors and further cementing its place as one of the leading brands in Sri Lanka, Holcim (Lanka) secured the Silver Award as the Turnaround Brand of Year at the recently held SLIM Brand Excellence Awards 2014 at BMICH.
The premier award program of marketing, SLIM Brand Excellence is the flagship event in the country’s corporate calendar, conducted by t he Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM). Brands are evaluated based both on a professional and academic viewpoint, comprehensive brand planning and management process; brand intent, content, process and performance.

Speaking about t he award, Philippe Richart, CEO, Holcim (Lanka) said, “Winning t his award took a lot of hard work and dedication to turn our brand around and bring it to this position of strength. When evaluating the progress of the brand equity over the years, it was identified that the key attributes of the brand weren’t justifiably communicated. It was decided that a campaign revitalizing the communication of the brand needed to be implemented and that’s when we executed many studies to find out what our customers sought after.

Holcim (Lanka)’s Sanstha cement positioned as the ‘Concrete Cement’ entails attributes such as higher strength, co n s i s t e n t qu a l i t y, be t t e r workability, its freshness being the only locally manufactured product, higher durability and its focus on being an environmentally friendly product. At the recently held Green Building Award Ceremony 2014, organized for the first time by the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka, Holcim Lanka Limited was awarded Green Labelling Certification for its Sanstha brand. Holcim Sanstha significantly reduces CO2 emissions when compared to standard Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) resulting from the utilization of clinker substitutes. These additives contribute to reduce CO2 emissions whilst ensuring no compromise is made on quality. Every 50 kg bag of Sanstha contributes 7.5 less Co2 emission compared to the Ordinary Portland Cement. Earning it’s SLS mark from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI), the cement manufacturing giant also has been able to secure the People’s Award for three consecutive years as the “Housing and Construction Brand of the Year” for the year 2014, 2013 and 2012.
