Walker Sons & Company Engineers, a subsidiary of MTD Walkers PLC, recently completed the electro-mechanical work for the water purification projects in Kolonna
and Balangoda.
The scope of work carried out by Walker Sons & Company Engineers included installing a state-of-the-art fully-automated water purification and pumping system and thereafter connecting it to the national water distribution system. “This project will give the residents of the Kolanna and Balangoda areas access to clean drinking water, fulfilling one of the long-standing issues faced by them, and improving their overall quality of life,” said Walker Sons & Company Engineer (Pvt.) Ltd CEO Lal Perera. Done in partnership with CFE, a Belgian multinational active in multiple engineering fields including construction, dredging, marine engineering and environmental engineering, this project was funded by the Government of Belgium, under the National Water Supply and Drainage Board’s scheme to supply the nation with sustainable water solutions. “We are pleased to be working with CFE, one of the largest and most reputed engineering firms involved in water purification projects around the world, and complement their experience by bringing in our expertise as one of the foremost EM 1 contractors to successfully complete the projects,” added Perera. “MTD Walkers PLC, through its subsidiaries Walkers Sons & Company Engineering and CML-MTD Construction, has now become a trusted engineering solutions provider for the National Water Supply and Drainage Board having successfully completed numerous water supply and drainage-related projects in Sri Lanka,” said MTD Walkers PLC Executive Deputy Chairman Jehan Amaratunga explaining that the group is looking at expanding its services in the water sector.
