A 44-year-old wildlife field assistant was trampled to death by a wild elephant yesterday in Siyambalanduwa. The victim was part of a group of wildlife officers from the Damana Wildlife Zone that rushed to the Helamulla village on information that a herd of wild elephants had raided the village. The victim identified as D. N. Dharma Kumara, a father of two, was rushed to the Siyambalanduwa base hospital where he was pronounced dead.
