On behalf of the country, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SLB) expresses its regrets to the Sri Lankan expatriates, who are stranded overseas, former MP Sujeewa Senasinghe said yesterday. He told a news conference that it was sad to see the government deciding against repatriating them.
“Those Sri Lankan expatriates from Italy were criticized saying their brought COVID-19 to Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan expatriates were called Rataviruwas (heroes who kept the Sri Lankan economy going),” Mr. Senasinghe said. “All Sri Lankan expatriates should be brought down and be subjected to quarantine.”
He thanked all Sri Lankan expatriates for the services they rendered to the country’s economy.
