The ambassadors of the Middle Eastern countries called on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday and pledged their assistance to the new government, Prime Minister’s Media Division said.It said the Ambassadors who belongs to the Middle Eastern Ambassadors Union in Sri Lanka met with Prime Minister Rajapaksa last morning at the Temple Trees. The Ambassadors have said the new government will always have the support of the middle eastern countries. They have also said that they are expecting to provide more assistance to improve economic growth and cultural activities of Sri Lanka in future.
Ambassadors of Oman, Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, Kuwait, Libya, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates attended the meeting. Former minister professor G. L. Peiris, Prime Minister’s Secretary Gamini Senarath and Prime Minister’s Senior Advisor Ajith Nivard Cabraal were also present.
