The current spread of COVID-19 could have been avoided had the authorities acted diligently, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene said yesterday.
Speaking to journalists after a religious ceremony held at the Sri Kailasanathar Swamy Devasthanam, Colombo 10, Mr.Wijewardene said the further spread of the disease should be avoided by acting diligently.
The “Pandemic could have been controlled if the authorities acted diligently. However this is not a time to criticize each other, but a time to act wisely to avoid further spreading of the virus,” Mr. Wijewardene said.
He said UNP will act in a responsible manner and do its part for the nation during this crisis.
