A large stock of food unfit for human consumption was destroyed by officials of the Ratmalana MOH office during raids on several hotels, supermarkets and several business establishments dealing with consumer goods.
Chief PHI H.S.Kaldera said the kitchen and storerooms in several hotels were in insanitary condition and consumer goods had been packed in old fertiliser bags. He said red notices were issued on the traders concerned to improve the sanitary conditions of their business establishments in keeping with food safety regulations. He said food unfit for human consumption was seized and destroyed with the consent of the traders.
PHIs R.P.T.S.Rajapakse, Gemunu Saliya Perera, U.K.S.S.Kumara, G.S.Chandana, Isuru Ratnayake, Tharindu Jayawardene and Mayura Kumaratnge carried out the raids on the instructions of Chief PHI H.S.Kaldera.
