Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday set the date for pronouncing her decision on granting bail to the suspect who attempted to bribe the OIC of the Horowpothana Police OIC, to refrain from objecting to bail being given to a suspect arrested by the Police over terrorism-related charges, for June 18
When the matter was taken up for inquiry before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna the Magistrate further remanded the suspect till that date and said that she would decide then whether the suspect should be released on bail or not. The Horowpothana Police had arrested a relative of the suspect on terrorism related charges.
The suspect had approached the OIC of the Horowpothana Police and offered him a bribe of Rs. 500,000 in order to refrain from objecting to a bail application which was to be submitted in court by the accused.
