Police begin to withdraw

The police have begun withdrawing from outside the UN office in Colombo on recieving instructions from the government and after one police officer was assaulted by the large number of protestors who have gathered in the area. (SD & GS)

WHY WASAN'T WIMAL WEERAWANSA ARRESTED UNDER THE EMERGENCY LAWS, WHICH WAS PASSED IN PARLIAMENT YESTERDAY? ... QUITE EVIDENT THE GOVERNMENT IS BEHIND THIS PROTEST! WHY DID THE POLICE HAVE TO WITHDRAW? POLICE OFFICERS, IF YOU NEED THE PUBLIC TO RESPECT YOUR UNIFORM, TAKE YOU STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT!
