A special police team in civics will be deployed in the City for the Singhalese (Avurudhu) and Tamil New Year to protect the shoppers and public during the first post war celebrations, police spokesman S.P Jayakody told Daily Mirror online.

He said that apart from the police officers in civic police in uniform will also be deployed by the respective police stations around the country in order to prevent and crime or unruly incidents from taking place.
