Sources said a group of NTK cadre gathered before the branch of the Chennai-based airlines office at Kalavasal, to register their protest against the Sri Lankan president Rajapaksa for the war crimes that was allegedly commited during his regime and the cruel killing of the LTTE leader Prabakaran’s son Balachandran.

Assistant Commissioner of Police A Ganesan along with a team nabbed the attackers. Two cases were registered against them and 30 persons, including the east union secretary of the NTK, were arrested. All of them have been remanded.
Meanwhile, a group of people acting under the banner “Dead and Missing Persons Parents’ Front” marched to the United Nations office in Colombo on Wednesday, and submitted a memorandum asking Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to take action against the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) for the death and forced disappearance of several thousand Lankan security forces personnel and civilians of all ethnicities during the 30 year conflict in the island nation.
Meanwhile, a separate demonstration of Tamils by the Democratic Peoples’ Front in Colombo, could not be held because the demonstrators could not reach Colombo from Vavuniya. Their buses were stoned by miscreants near Vavuniya.
US Raps Lanka
The US Embassy on Wednesday expressed “concern” about reports that hundreds of relatives of disappeared persons were blocked by the Sri Lankan authorities at Vavuniya while they were travelling to Colombo to stage a demonstration seeking governmental action to trace the missing. “The embassy calls upon the Lankan authorities to allow free movement of these citizens,” an embassy release said.
