Woman molested by Lankan in Dubai

E-mail Print
A 30-year-old Sri Lankan male worker, allegedly molested a woman when he went to repair the wardrobe of her roommate, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, 21, an Indonesian, testified that while she was in her room at around 1pm on November 22, she heard a knock at the door.

“I opened the door to see a man holding a screwdriver in his hand.”

“He told me that he wanted to repair the wardrobe… I told him that I needed to sleep and that the wardrobe is of my roommate and she is not in,” she reported

However, the suspect refused to leave and offered to wait for the roommate to return.

“I did not accept that and sat on the bed asking him to leave, he sat next to me, I got up. He then held my hand and pulled it towards him. I moved away while he was telling me that he loves me.”

“I told him that we are only co-workers and that I do not have any feelings towards him and asked him to leave the room. He pushed me on the bed and I fell.”

The suspect groped her but the victim resisted with all her strength and managed to escape.

“I ran away from the room screaming and shouting. He then ran away leaving his tools behind. I told my other co-workers and informed the police,” she testified.

The Court will issue its sentence on February 27. (emirates247)

Sri Lankans should be provided with some ethical code of conduct before going for overseas and dealing with foreign nationals. This might even valid for locals as well.
