There were lot of ammendments done to the existing law on rape of women in India after the gang rape incident in New Delhi. Though the whole findings of the Justice Varma pannel was not inacted, some justifiable ammendments were inacted whilst excluding the pannel's request to have severe punishment for marital rape. But, the recommendation panel has gone to the extent of death penanlty when it came to an acid attack. This kind of a heaneous crime should surely be punished with the death sentence.
