It also said that, in Maldives they will meet government officials and members of political parties to continue support for a way forward that respects Maldivian democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the will of the Maldivian people in the run up to this year’s presidential elections.

James R. Moore is a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs since September 2010. Mr. Moore was previously the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo from 2006 to 2009.

Jane B. Zimmerman is a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, responsible for South and Central Asia, the Western Hemisphere, and International Religious Freedom.

Minister Weerawansa has two options: Either run away and hide or come forward and stage a fast in front of the US Embhassy urging the delegation to get out of our sovereign country without interfering in our internal affairs.
