Video: All divers rescued

All four divers have been rescued and are currently in Mount Lavinia, our reporter said.  The four divers were rescued by three Navy boats that were sent to locate the divers.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mirror one of the divers said that he was happy that everyone is alive. The Diver said that they swam with the current and were hopeful that they would be rescued.

All of those rescued have been admitted to a leading hospital in Colombo, our reporter said.  Earlier one of the saved divers Olivenzo Arnold said they were engaging in under water filming  from Mt. Lavinia to Panadura when they were swept away by a current. (H.M. Dharmpala) (Pix by Suranjith Perera)

Sure but what we heard was that the navy was nowhere in sight and they were rescued by fishermen.

Good Job guys....thank God all are safe.....its indeed quite dangerous to swim near MTL beaches this is not the 1st time this has happened there is a very heavy current near the rocks many have died there.....this place should be called off for safety of sea bathers.....

In other countries, Dangerous areas close to bathing areas are marked with RED floats to discourage amateurs entering these areas. Since we are trying to accelerate the tourism, This is a great job for coast guard or Navy demarcating these dangerous areas for the safety of public. Mount Lavinia AS DHA explained, notorious for these treacherous currents.

Such a huge relief that all are safe and sound. This calls for special Thanksgiving prayers and also a grand 'homecoming' to the Heroes!!

Hats of to them first, if they wouldn't rescue the first one all other 4 would be dead already!

Did Navy, Police or other authority check the contents filmed until they were swept away?

Hats off to Fishermen, watched the news yesterday that how they used the technology to find the divers, and to Naval force too. Saw the happy faces of the family too. Congrats to Fishermen and Naval force on rescue of lives. Heard that they were in the sea for about 24 – 30 hrs. It’s really scary too. Long Live guys.
