Request to ban animal slaughter rejected by court

A request made by the Chilaw police for a court order banning the slaughter of animals at the Chilaw Munneswaran Sri Badrakali Kovil was rejected by the Chilaw District Judge and Magistrate Jagath A.Kahandagama.

The Magistrate said imposing a ban as requested by the police was not within the jurisdiction of that court.

Police earlier filed a motion seeking a court order for a ban on animal slaughter in response to a complaint made by General Secretary of the Thunhela Jathika Vyaparaya Ven. Omare Kassapa Thera.

A country has no religion and should not have a religion. Just because extremist countries do some thing it doesn't mean it is right and logical. Religion of an individual citizen is purely a personal thing, and the state should safeguard the rights of different believes to practice their religion.

Soma Thero was no super Human and neither is SL a Buddhist country. The majority of SL people are Buddhist. There is a difference in that and I hope you understand that, and that the consitutuion of SL guarantees religious freeodm to all religions.

court is not guardian of animals. society should be and in the name of god no animals should be sacrificed
