HC issues notice on Berty Premalal

Former North Central Province Chief Minister Berty Premalal Diassanayake and 13 other state officials were  issued notice by the Anuradhapura High Court Judge to be present in Court on August 22.

The HC issued notice on a petition filed by a group of people who claimed that the former Chief Minister with the connivance of state officials was abusing state property for his election campaign.  By Upali Ananda.

A welcome first step. Next is to prosecute if found guilty and that will take some guts. Lets see if the judiciary is up to it.
