This cannot be controlled by our Govt. Its a weak point. Now the youngsters are trying to flee away to Australia is due to un-employment problems.

This is crazy. Are they all Tamils or even others also trying to leave the country?. If they are all Sri Lankan Tamils then Government must listen to their Grievances and do something to safeguard their culture and life style in Sri Lanka.

they are not Tamil people who are 'harassed', even guys from Colombo subs, who are unable to pass AL's are discussing about hitching a boat ride to Aussie. heaven knows what they intend to do if they get there. This is very bad on SL.

What is the specific issue they have, which Sinhalese don't have only been a Tamil ? Tamils have more rights even in the Capital itself. They are the majority in Colombo as well !

Safeguarding Culture is big topic my friend.Only if the Influence of the Western World on Countries STOP with immediate effect, then you would see how cultures are safeguarded.
The West has nothing but to intervene in MANY FORMS all over the world especially the Arab World!!

Mahinda order the IGP to deploy strong team in the coastal areas and not sloppy officers. If he cannot do so, call your Navy chief and order him to stop this nonsense forever.

Most of the Nothern people who suffered are come down to south and playing games. Again the check points should come into force for sure.

Mahinda is busy with the elections, IGP is sleeping. Who will stop this nonsense? Police, Army or the Navy?

Aren't the authorities interested in finding out the reason for this exodus and who is chasing them to take on such a hazardous journey in leaky dinghies? Oh, sure they know and are only taking these steps just to hold a candle to the Aussies!!!

You need to find the root cause and address those issues that force poeple to leave, without which this cannot be stopped.

These idiots can't understand the real situation here. The rogues are cheating the people and collect money for send them to Australia and finally they themselves betray to the Navy.

But, these poor people can't understand this racket.
What a pity !

Not only boat people there are tourist who waited behind and reaped this harvest . Who are we to complain . If Australia has this kind of prosperity it is good the people are willing to share !There are many a political leader's son and daughter who stayed put after coming as students .then they return as dual citizens to serve the country in numerous ways . What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander !

Why are you calling them terrorist Vis8, do you know how many of them are Sinhalese also why don't you take it up with the Australian Govt about the level of benefits since that's what the Ausi's have authorized. In-fact last week many Sinhalese was given PR to make way for the newly arrived refugees in the detention centers in Ausi and scheduled cricket match did't have all the players since they were Sinhalese players who got PR

Beruwala is a Muslim area, and Kosgoda is deep south Sinhala. They are all fleeing the Miracle of Asia in spite of the government having given the people cricket stadiums. People are ungrateful. You don't see people of Malaysia or S.Korea or even Indonesia trying to do this. Somebody has gone mad: Either the People or the Government

Australia is getting tougher now and only a handful will get refugee status, rest who do not qualify will be packed back home (SL) or to Siberia.
These people must realise that and not waste their wealth and time trying to claim refugee status.
