Colombo may get less water if drought continues

E-mail Print
National Water Supply and Drainage Board Deputy Chairman Gamini Gunawardene said the supply of water to Colombo would have to be restricted if this drought continues for another two weeks.

Water is now provided to Colombo from the newly commissioned Kelani Right Bank Project. Water supply to other areas has been disrupted from up to two to six hours a day because of the drastic drop in the water level in the reservoirs. (Sanath Desmond)

the truth is my boy, is that the overflow of the water is caused because the DAM is full of MUD.. so there is no place for the water to be stored, and you know what happened. now we don't have water. wonder who they are gonna blame now.?

Govt need to consider of the big hotels that consume most of the water. If SL keeps on building new hotels and apartments water supply is not going to last too long

Water Board is responsible for providing an uninterrupted service to their consumers. However, it does not have a proper water management service in order to get this task completed. Therefore, we have to depend on the rain god for forever.

Since those in power have not prepared for this contingency by creating water desalinating plants run on Geothermal plants let those who live in Colombo get used to coconut water and when that runs out drink sea water.

we use pure drinking water for the toilet flushing and washing the car, this cannot go on like this, their is no sustitute for pure water. Try to use the underground tube wells for those perposes and keep the drinking water bathing and drinking only.
