US welcomes Action Plan

E-mail Print
The US government today welcomed the release of the National Action Plan (NAP) by the Sri Lankan Government.

Issuing a statement, the US embassy in Colombo said, “We have long encouraged the full implementation of the recommendations outlined by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).  We believe that full implementation of the NAP will benefit all citizens of Sri Lanka by furthering long-term reconciliation and lasting peace”.

US government is very happy over the "Action Plan" But people in this country completely in dark about this. There is a government in this country which is governed by a other country. Actually, to whom we vote at the election? To US government or SL government?

No... They will have a question on when the plans will be implemented. Usually with our government, when it comes to good things it is all sound no work !

Exactly! US and others do not know what Srilankan national plans are like. They normally end up nowhere.

US doesn't care about action plans. The US will be fine with SL as long as SL responds positively to their strategic interest. The recent souring of relations is rumored to be because of the China factor & some defense agreements.

The US talks about reconciliation and peace while covertly assisting the Syrian rebels.

US knows this just a plan to escape the next human right session in UN, TNA should clarify US and govt cannot just do cosmetic implementation here and there and expect people or the US to be happy.

What US is doing in Syria is good and right. What more for a authoritarian regime consisting of family members without any opposition ruling since 1966 and during the course committing the most heinous crimes that are even unreported and unquestioned. Do you sincerely think this regime is right to exist in this new world order?

If its right then why do it secretly? Right or wrong its not for the US to decide. There is an int'l body for these issues..... its called the UN.

Would Like to point out something. I thik these countries need a regime otherwise they will not long last. For an example see what happened to Iraq, Libya, these countries will ever come back to stable after regime break? I dont think so, because Al Qaeda also waiting for opportunites!

Agree with Nodrog. On the one hand the US calls for peace and human rights implementation of peace and on the other they contribute to a sovereign country's instability and chaos.

There will be another action plan to implement the NAP. This will continue until the government's term of office is over.

If the LLRC is not implemented fully, then we will demand for Tamil Eelam through referendum like east timor and south sudan.

It was the punishment they were interested in. Now that they think we've had enough, any S..T we dish out is good enough for them. Funny thing though, that our pundits didn't realize it and allowed them to breath down our necks all this time!!!!

It is sad to note that no date has been announced for the implementation of the National Action Plan, neither has the USA Governament requested for a final date, which serves no benefit. So this documents too will end up as archives.
