Lankan karate fighters in India sent home

E-mail Print
Three Sri Lankan karate fighters could not participate in an international Karate championship at Pollachi town, Coimbatore in India as organisers asked them to return to their country after protests by some pro-Eelam outfits, police said.

The Sri Lankan participants were supposed to participate in the tourney which began last night. But some activists of Periyar Dravida Kazhakam and like-minded organisations lodged a protest with organisers for inviting them, saying the island nation's government was not allowing Tamils there to live peacefully.

Since the team had already arrived in Chennai, the organisers asked them to not to come to Pollachi and to return to their country, police said.(NDTV)

Can we ask all Tamil Nadu visitors staying in Sri Lanka to leave India. We should not allow cricketer Ashwin to play in our land since Ashwin is also from Tamil Nadu.

Why on earth should we do that? If we are better than them, then we should welcome them with open arms and make sure they have great time while in SL.

Such acts will only further aggravate the Tamils Problems, if any, in Sri Lanka. Tit for Tat is not an answer.

Just take a walk in Pettah and see Tamils making tons of money and shipping to India and other countries.

Tamils monopolize gold, retail clothing in Pettah, and almost all essential commodities.

Sinhalese don't do such and will never do such business, because they consider it a low caste work (dealing in gold). Tamils are monopolizing the business because Sinhalese don't want to do that business. If you don't want to do it, do not blame the Tamil for making money out of it.

@ Raj- True what you are saying, but it it rubbish that Tamils are not having fair treatment. See all the rich colombo 7 tamils, all partying hard on the Hi Magazine. See how many tamils are top corporate officials in blue chip companies. See how many tamils are doing well in colombo. How can anyone say that we are treating them any different. Hell my boss is a tamil and hes a very nice guy and i respect him for who he is as a person. We need to stop referring to peopl by race and address them as individuals, we are all humans underneath.

Why on earth are our deligent sportsmen sent to this filthy state of Tamil Nadu. The tamils are still dreaming of elam which is never going to happen in the next 1000 centuries.

These insults are going too far. The Indian team went to H'tota by helicopter while our team went by bus. Time to reciprocate is now. Enough is enough!!

Why do we keep placating India when all they do is scorn and insult us. Round up all the Indians working illegally here and deport them immediately.

How long are we going to take this humiliation lying down. Time for action now. Let us start with the Tamil Nadu fellows doing unauthorised business here and deport them to teach these Tamil Nadu jokers a lesson.

The following was on Sunday"s Hindu paper. We must take extra care when we allow these dirty people into Sri Lanka as they have on arrival visa at our air port. Get them medically cleared to prevent a Cholera epidemic in Sri Lanka.
