Fraud Bureau officials arrested on bribery charges

A Fraud Bureau sub inspector and a police constable were arrested by the CID on charges of having taken a bribe of more than rupees two million from a businessman who deals in illegal transactions, acting police spokesman Mahesh Udawatta said.

The bribe is alleged to have been taken on the promise that no action would be taken on a case pending against the businessman. The two police personnel were produced in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court and remanded till the July 6. (Sanath Desmond)

The Parliament should pass that if the CID, Police and other armed forces personnel and also the politicians should be hand over DOUBLE THE PUNISHMENT if they are found guilty of various criminal and fraudulent activities.
