Wijeya sweeps print awards

Wijeya Newspapers Ltd swept the Collate 2010 Print Awards late this evening with all three of its publications, Daily FT, Daily Mirror and Sunday Lankadeepa, winning Gold, Silver and Bronze for the best quality newspaper in the broadsheet category.

At the awards ceremony organized by the Sri Lanka Association of Printers, Daily FT won Gold, Daily Mirror the Silver and Sunday Lankadeepa the Bronze award in the broadsheet category. The Tharunaya magazine also of Wijeya newspapers won the second place for best Tabloid. The ceremony was held at the Water’s Edge hotel at Battaramulla.

But the Daily Mirror was somewhat biased in its reporting last year
Went against the interests and feelings of tamils and took a pro government stand
But things have changed a bit for the better now
