Threat to actress: Lady Doctor transferred

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Kataragama hospital has been transferred to the Middeniya Rural Hospital with immediate effect, after her husband had allegedly threatened popular Sinhala actress Sanoja Bibile.

The incident took place in Katharagama a few weeks ago. The Husband of the CMO had allegedly threatened the actress with a sword after a heated argument had erupted between the two.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has initiated a formal inquiry into a complaint made by film actress. In her complaint Bibile had stated, that she was threatened and intimidated by a man.

The man was identified as the Chief Medical Officer’s husband, who had chased after her with a sword in hand when she called over at the Kataragama hospital to obtain treatment for an urgent illness during her recent visit to the Kataragama shrine. (M.K.Nandasena)

In this country, where individuals are sometimes punished for committing no offense, this should not come as a surprise to anyone. The CMO was the wife of the offender, after all. That is a serious connection compared to some of the stuff they come up with these days.

I read Daily Mirror very often and when I read the articles and comments given by people from all over the world, I laugh so much that my wife thinks that somehing is wrong with me. I have never read anywhere similar articles appearing in n news paper or magazines. Thank so much for the people of Sri Lanka for keeping me laughing becuase the iife is not that easy.

This is not a new thing or a rare thing in some Government hospitals. I have come across several hospitals where such undesirable things have occured .In some hospitals the husbands of Chief Medical Officers are in the habit of giving instructions to the other hospital staffers and even reprimanding them thinking that they are the CMOO of the hospital.In my experience, majority of these husbands of CMOO in government hospitals are boozers. Some of them are jobless and do nothing as a means of living(Nikamas) .They have nothing to do except for boozing while living on the income gained by their wives so they do high handed things taking the power of their wives into their hands. Eventhough punishing the wife for the misdeed of a husband can not be justified it is those CMO wives who mislead their husbands and empower them to act at their whims and fancies in hospital premises.So it is the responsibility of those CMOO to restrain their so called hubbies.

Forget the actress and the offender for a moment. Think about the inciedent happen. Why, when, where, how it has happen. Don't forget connection of a CMO and in the hospital. Don't forget Doctors are in the process of another strike demanding something. whether incident happen to actress or anybody else we must condenm such things. Unfortunate situation is that involvement of socalled educated people becoming incresed. Where we are heading towards??????????????
