Sri Lanka lose by five runs

E-mailPrint

Australia survived a frenetic Sri Lankan fight-back to post a thrilling five-run one-day victory at the WACA today.

Sri Lanka, chasing 232 for victory, looked dead and buried after slumping to 9-180 in the 45th over.

But a resilient 36-run partnership between vice-captain Angelo Mathews (64 off 76) and tail-ender Dhamika Prasad (15 n.o. off 11) lifted Sri Lanka to within sight of victory before Mathews was caught off the penultimate ball to end the innings. (Source: AAP)

The Lankan team fell on it's bum, same as Sangakkara during his run-out, even though we had the better side. Well, better luck next time.
