President to regain what Lanka lost

E-mailPrint

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, addressing the nation at the Independence Day celebrations in Kandy a short while ago gave an assurance that he will use his fresh mandate to regain what the island has lost during the war.

While noting that this is the first celebration since the defeat of terrorism, President Rajapaksa also said that he will rebuild the country especially the areas which were devastated during the 30 year conflict.

Later speaking in Tamil, the President said that now the people can live in peace and in safety and go anywhere they wish with no fear or restrictions. He also said that the country should solve its own problems through dialogue. He also urged the Tamil people not to forget their motherland and said the people should not be misled for petty political gain.

President Rajapaksa added that he had not taken any decision which would betray the country and that all his decisions were in the best interest of the nation.

I think most of us haven't realised what we have lost, and that's what we can conclude by judging the recent election results.

Freedom is what we need to regain.

First make colombo clean and tidy. Not around only temple tress, but everywhere . Our road network quality is very poor. Please pay attention to it.

His talks are senseless at-times. Being the President, he should talk wisely rather than getting exiited.

If president sincerely want to win over the Tamil people in the North and East he need to serious consider changing his partners in NE . I don’t think the average Tamil in north east is against President Rajapaksa , but they were against his partners.... Douglas Devananda in the north, Minister Karuna and chief Minister Piilyan . They all have one thing in common they have more Tamil blood in their hands than any other politicians in SL..... that’s why President Rajapaksa lost in NE.

independence comes round the corner every 4th of feb. for us it is only a word with a meaning which doesn't mean anything practically. as a democracy we expect more but what we get is rhetorics for a brighter future and past glories that is forgetten in two days including by the so called leaders themselves.
the present leadership have been by far the most dangerous, worst and corrupt in upholding the values of democracy, freedom and independence of the people either as free citizens or in our work places.

Take simply from what "REALITY" says. The rest will automatically fall into place. Now there will be more corruption in the state sector because everbody is somebody's somebody amd the common man is NOBODY.
Can see that already in Colombo, more of those illegal DOCTORED plated vehicles are on the road.

Today is Cancer day universally! We have a incurable cancer in our democracy. It is bribery and corruption!
It is eating our democracy; it is ruining the lives of young people who are taking up to the same way of life to gain their goals. We have also lost our freedom in many ways. There are secretive ways of manipulating the secret ballot!
All of these things have matured to the fullest during the last few years!
Its time we look at our cancer. The cancer that is killing the spiritual life of even those who abide by certain religious faiths!
What a great nation we are now; we are ready to say JAYAWEWA for money! and fame! and positions!
