Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe have exchanged views on the agreement involving Sri Lanka, India and the Maldives, to counter Jihadi terrorism that poses a threat to the entire region, Daily Mirror learns.
According to sources close to Mr. Wickremesinghe, the duo has held a confab when the Indian premier visited the country last Sunday for less than five hours – they are believed to have discussed the matter while travelling in the same vehicle after Mr. Wickremesinghe received the visiting leader at the airport.
Among the other matters of interest discussed by the duo was assistance for the development of the Palali Airport for civilian flight operations. India is planning to offer financial support in this regard and has also expressed interest in developing the Mattala Airport.
Much of PM Modi’s time was devoted for his engagement with President Maithripala Sirisena.
