Beijing (dpa) 27 July 2020 -Hundreds of flights were cancelled in northeastern China on Monday to combat the country’s latest resurgence of the coronavirus, state media reported.
China reported 61 new coronavirus cases on Monday, of which 57 were domestically transmitted, according to health authorities.
A total of 412 flights to and from the port city of Dalian in Liaoning province were cancelled as of Monday morning, the Global Times reported. The cancelled flights comprised close to 80 per cent of the city’s total air traffic.
New cluster of Covid-19 cases has been linked to a local seafood processing plant in the city of close to seven million people.
Municipal authorities have imposed quarantine on all close contacts of the company’s staff and locked down the surrounding area, placing the city on a “wartime” footing, according to local officials.
