Prices of domestic LP gas as well as imported milk powder will be increased with effect from midnight today, Consumer Affairs Minister Johnston Fernando said.Accordingly, the price of a 12.5 kg cylinder would be increased by Rs. 350, while a packet of one kilogram and a packet of 400g of imported milk powder would be increased by Rs. 61 and Rs. 163 respectively.
The Minister also said that the Consumer Affairs Authority has given approval to increase the price of a bag of cement by Rs. 70 as well.
It was only yesterday, the Finance Ministry imposed a levy of 15 per cent or 92 rupees (whichever is higher) on a kilogram of imported milk powder, excepting infant milk powder
