General Sarath Fonseka says the government should arrest him if he had attempted to stage a coup as claimed by the authorities and the failure to take him in to custody could only mean that the claims are fabricated.

“The government should arrest me first if I planned to stage a military coup and they have not done so because it is a fabricated story,” the General said speaking family members of former military personnel taken into custody while being employed under him during the presidential elections.  (YP)

If there were so many good reasons to act against SF, government should have done that earlier. Why wait till after the elections? I think both sides may have something to hide!

This is brave, Yes, if the GOV has any evidence why not arrest?
Instead of arresting the media and so called army deserters,
Lets build the country instead of dithering.

Sir, you are the brave leader who saved our mother land. But some of the idiots are there to spit on you (like jayasinghe & Necker). In history in America, there were some slaves who wanted to kill "Abraham Lincoln" who released them from slavery. These idiots are same. They don’t know what's the real freedom or slavery; need only to be passing the time till water get boiled.
There are more than 60% with you. We bow you!!!

Well spoken just like a real war hero.-fatally wounded thrice but rose to fight again for his motherland.

But these cock& bull stories will continue till the general election.

They are the arsenal of cowardly cut out heroes.

Bravery and boldness are reflections of honesty and sincerity. If SF stands firm on these, the perpetrators of fraud on the people will be exposed in no time. SF is giving hope to a suffering people. Wish him success.

Looking at some of the comments, some people seem to be blinded by MR & his govt..according to them, MR should get all the credit for the war, and anyone who claims credit is a conspirator. These people accept what the govt says as the biblical truth. Seriously, with ignorance like this.. All the best for us , Wonder if Abrhaim Licolin was refering only to the United States, when he said, " You cant fool all the people all the time"..

What Prabakaran said about us who live in the South is very true: after a month we forget what happened. We won the war mainly because of SF who changed the way the army fought the LTTE. Before SF, the army tried to fight a conventional war and there was no result, only deaths of thousands in the South. SF changed the army's strategy (after 30 years) by deploying smaller combat teams to take down LTTE pockets. This disrupted the entire logistic operation of the enemy. The enemy was being hit from all sides day and night by an invisible foe. The LTTE had no response to this tactic of SF, and eventually lost the war. True, the government and other forces played their part well. But if SF did not 'invent' a new method to fight the enemy, the war might still be going on. So thank you SF for going against the grain and finishing off the cancer in our land. Also, MR, thank you for supporting SF.

Yea, thats right: without making a big hue and cry about a non-existent coup, why cant the big talkers take action straight away to arrest the culprit or culprits and show the world how our democracy and rule of law works. A good challenge to the cowards.
