The government has taken steps to facilitate those who temporarily reside in the Western Province for work and are stranded due to the curfew, to return home in other parts of the country.
“Many people who are temporarily residing in the Western Province due to their jobs are currently stranded and unable to get to their hometowns. We have taken measures to return them back home without undue delay,” Western Province Governor Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke said.
They are required to follow the guidelines set by the Director General Health Services when moving from one place to another, he said.
Meanwhile, Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon said, on the instruction of the Western Province Governor they would make the arrangements to evacuate workers trapped in certain institutions and lodges in the Western Province.
