A UNP delegation will meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today, party sources said yesterday.
UNP Assistant Leader former MP Ravi Karunanayake, MPs Ruwan Wijewardene, and Arjuna Ranatunga will be included in the delegation according to sources.
A former UNP MP who will be included in the delegation told Daily Mirror that the group will discuss COVID-19 crisis with the President. “This meeting of ours will go beyond politics and will be confined to the ongoing global crisis,” this MP said.
It was reported that Mr Wickremesinghe had a one-to-one meeting with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa over the weekend and requested that Parliament be reconvened.
Mr Wickremesinghe earlier cautioned the government that spread of COVID-19 will reach a peak period from April 4 to 11.
