Three persons including two females were arrested with 192 kgs of heroin, 10 pistols and 19 magazines, Police Spokesman Jaliya Senaratne said.
He said two suspects were initially arrested with 15 kgs of heroin by the Police last morning on the Southern Expressway. Following further questioning of the suspects, Police recovered another 177 kgs of heroin, 10 pistols and 19 magazines from a house in Bandaragama.
The raid was conducted following a tip off received from Dubai, to Western Province (North) DIG Waruna Jayasundara. Acting on the information, a team led by Ahangama Police OIC IP Manjula Silva carried out the raid.
It was reported that the officers who conducted the raid are former officers of the Special Task Force (STF) of Police who are now assigned to the Western Province (North) Crimes Division.
The Spokesman said further investigations are conducted under the directions of DIG Waruna Jayasundara.
