The Supreme Court has rejected three petitions challenging the private member’s bill presented in parliament against the implementation of the death penalty, Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri said yesterday.
The Bill titled, ‘Abolition of the Death Penalty’ was presented in parliament by UNP MP Bandula lal Bandarigoda as a private member’s bill.
Three petitions were later filed in the Supreme Court against the bill.
