Attorney General Dappula De Livera yesterday directed the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) Director to record statements from the judges who were involved in the telephone conversations with UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake.
Nishara Jayaratne, the Coordinating Secretary to the AG, said instructions have been given to record statements from the judges immediately.
MP Ramanayake called and allegedly influenced the then CID Director Shani Abeysekara, former Bribery Commission Director General Dilrukshi Dias and at least three Judges.
The MP was arrested by the CCD officers at his residence in Madiwela on Tuesday following an arrest warrant issued by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.
The AG earlier directed the CCD to arrest MP Ramanayake after obtaining a warrant and produce him in court for alleged interference with the functions of the judges.
After being produced in the Court on Wednesday, MP Ramanayake was remanded till January 29 by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.
