Two suspects alleged to have close links with the National Thowheed Jama’at (NTJ) were arrested at Horowpathana on Thursday, Police said.
They are alleged to have closely associated with the man who blasted himself at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel
One of the suspects is a 56-year-old principal of a school at Weerasole while the other is a 47-year-old teacher of a school in Ataweerawewa.
The suspects - Mohammed Addar Razul and Abdul Jabaar Nijab of Pattewa were arrested on information received by the Western Province Intelligence Division.
It was revealed that they had close associations with the man who blasted himself at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel and are known to have attended extremist sermons in Colombo.
The suspects were produced in the Kebithigollewa Magistrate’s Court yesterday while the police were allowed to detain the suspects for 72 hours for the purpose of further interrogation.
