Over 1,200 people have been sent to self-quarantine for failing to wear face masks in public places in the Western Province on Sunday, the Police said.
Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon said a total of 1,217 persons have been identified and they have been directed to undergo 14-day self quarantine.
Earlier, he said that a special operation will be carried out to identify persons who fail to wear face masks in public places and that they would be arrested.
