While extending gratitude to the army personnel for the service they render for the security of the people, Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said no one should let any force destroy the life of human beings.
Cardinal Ranjith expressed these views in the presence of Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva at the annual Christmas Carol programme organised by the Sri Lanka Army at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre on Tuesday.
“The Army personnel are dedicated to ensuring protection of human life and that they fight to protect good people from bad risking their lives. That is why Army personnel should be honoured and respected. Likewise, we should also be ready to be committed and dedicated in order to save the lives of people. We should be able to make any sacrifice to save lives,” the Head of the local Roman Catholic Church said.
He said they were grateful for the commitments made by the three armed forces in the endeavour to ensure the security of the citizens of Sri Lanka.
The Archbishop said the Easter Sunday attack was a result of arbitrary act by a misguided gang.
